Rolling Stone article
A brief article appeared yesterday on Rolling Stone's website which gives some more information on the Furs' plans for the new year.
Excerpt:
The Furs' album will be recorded and self-produced at Ashton's home in New York State. But don't expect it to hit stores until late 2005 or early 2006 --especially considering that the band has not yet signed a deal for its release, planning to remain as independent as possible. "We don't need the advance," says the veteran pop singer. "We paid for this ourselves."

Beautiful Chaos is released!
After several years of waiting patiently while it was honed to near-perfection, I am very pleased to announce that Dave Thompson's biography of the Psychedelic Furs, Beautiful Chaos, has been printed, bound, and shipped!

(click for an enlarged view)
Speaking personally, I can tell you that everyone who was involved in the making of this book approached it as a labor of love, and the outcome is fantastic. I consider it an absolutely essential item for all Furs fans. Aside from the in-depth, well-written text, the collection of photos (few of which have been previously published anywhere) and ephemera within is stunning.
The book will be ready to ship from Amazon UK shortly, and from Amazon US by early October. Place a pre-order now...or, if you absolutely cannot wait to get your sweet little hands on a copy, you can order one directly from the publisher, Helter Skelter. It'll cost you a bit more if you're in the US due to shipping expenses, of course.
(Please note that although a different cover is pictured on Amazon US and the publisher's websites, all books will ship with the cover seen here at BDD—designed by yours truly.)

A few things to take note of (in pencil, with an eraser nearby):

Buffalo Show cancelled
Regretfully, due to a throat infection plaguing lead singer Richard Butler, it will be necessary to cancel the Psychedelic Furs' April 7th date at the Continental in Buffalo, New York.
Medication and bed rest are prescribed for Butler who hopes to be well enough to perform with the band in New York City on Thursday. We're thinking of him, and wish him a speedy recovery.
No word yet on a rescheduled date. Ticket holders should contact the Continental or local ticket outlets for further information. The Psychedelic Furs are currently in the midst of a 28-date US tour.

Archiving the present
Earlier today, the last few tour dates were announced, bringing the schedule to a grand total of 33 shows!
I used the two-day break from the Furs tour to get caught up on adding setlists and photos to the 2004 live archive. If you happened to write down the setlist (or better yet, if you got a paper copy and can send me a scan!), I'd love if you could send it my way...same goes for ticket stubs, photos, local ads and reviews, or anything you think might enhance the archive in some way.
As always, you are encouraged (please!) to post your reviews of shows in the discussion forum. Just look for the "How's everything" subject lines!

No show in Sacramento or Chapel Hill
I've been informed that VH1 Classic is advertising dates for Sacramento, CA on 3/17 and Chapel Hill, NC on 4/11. Please be advised that this information is NOT correct—there are no dates scheduled for either city.
Also, a nice article from today's Mercury News. Enjoy!

Here we go...
So the 2004 TOUR starts tonight in Hollywood at the House of Blues!
Even though I unfortunately won't be there, I'm terribly excited and cannot wait to see what's on the setlist this time around. As the tour progresses, stop in to the forums and post your reviews and setlists...and get in touch with me if you'd like to contribute photos, ticket stubs, or anything else to the archives.
A few more dates are yet to be added...I'll keep you all posted. And if you're at the shows in New York City, Farmingdale, or Sayreville, by all means give me a wave and say hello! I'll hopefully be decked out in my new BDD baseball tee, dancing and laughing with my fellow FURnatics.

Hello!
Welcome to Burned Down Days version 4! I hope you like the new look of the place. In addition to getting a makeover, you'll also find that almost all of the content is brand new. Take some time to look around and dig through it all. BDD will always be a work in progress, and there's TONS more to come...
The Furs are about to start a North American tour! Visit the live archive for all the scheduled dates. Loads of things are happening in 2004—a solo album from Richard Butler in the Spring, possible tour dates in Europe, and a new Furs studio album later in the year.
I want to remind anyone who isn't already on the mailing list to sign up now! Look to your left—there's a little box to put your email address in. I won't share this information with anyone (I don't even see the addresses myself when I send out newsletters), and I'll only use it to keep you updated on BDD and Furs news. Remember that even if you are signed up for the FURnatics Society, you will also have to sign up for the mailing list—and vice versa.
