Is this the official Psychedelic Furs website?

No, they don't have one. The band has been very supportive of Burned Down Days over the past seven years, though, as have their management, and most importantly their fans. BDD is the only actively updated Psychedelic Furs website, and I'm committed to continuing to expand and improve upon it as both an archive of the Furs' past and as a news source for their current and future endeavors.

How can I get in touch with the Furs' management?

What are the Furs doing now?

They have been touring consistently since reuniting in 2000. Scheduled tour dates are listed in the live section and at the discussion boards are they are confirmed. A live album and live DVD were also released several years ago.

The Furs DO plan to release a new studio album. (Eventually.)

Richard Butler will released his first solo album on April 18, 2006 on Koch Records. If you haven't already bought it, do yourself a favor and pick up a copy (or get it on iTunes). It's fantastic!

You can keep up-to-date with Furs news by checking the news page, and by adding your email address to the BDD mailing list (see submission box at left).

What about the UK/Europe?

The Furs played their first overseas shows in 14 years with dates in London, Hyde Park, and Dublin in 2005. No word on when they'll be back, but never say never...

Who is in the Furs now?

Richard Butler (voice)
Tim Butler (bass)
John Ashton (guitar)
Frank Ferrer (drums, formerly of Love Spit Love)
Amanda Kramer (keyboards)

Additionally, saxophonist Mars Williams occasionally joins the band onstage.

Where is Richard Fortus?

The last show he played with the Furs was in 2001. He's now a member of Guns N' Roses and plays in Pisser with fellow LSL/Furs member Frank Ferrer. Incidentally, Frank is also now an official member of Guns N' Roses, though he continues to play with the Furs as well. (Who knew the Furs would ever have so many ties to GnR?!)

What about Love Spit Love?

It's all about the Furs now, baby. Love Spit Love have ceased to exist, and leave two wonderful albums in their wake. I'll probably encorporate some LSL history and such into BDD at some point, but right now I've got my hands full with the Furs.

Who created this site?

Me, Anna. I started BDD in 2000 just as the Furs were getting back together. I had a lot of help from fellow fans and the Furs themselves, past and present. I'm a graphic designer and book artist living near New York City. Burned Down Days is a labor of love, and something I work on in my spare time.

I could never have created the current version of BDD by myself. I have had so much input, support, and help from so many people. In particular I would like to acknowledge the following people for really going beyond the call: André Huckvale (whose name deserves to be in lights), Dave Franke, Carla Harvey, Richard Butler, Tim Butler, John Ashton, Duncan Kilburn, Brad Berlin, Roger O'Donnell, Roger Morris, Sean Body, Rob Dillman, Harold Grey, and last but in no way least, ALL of the FURnatics Society and everyone who has ever been a member of the Psychedelic Furs. Thank you so much for being a part of all this. I hope you'll continue to be around for the duration, or at least as much of it as you can stand.

Why didn't you do the site in Flash? I want stuff to move!

Flash can be a wonderful, elegant addition to a website when used appropriately. It is not, however, such a great idea for sites like BDD which are information-based, searchable, and constantly built-upon, expanded, and updated.

Where does the name Burned Down Days come from?

It's taken from the lyrics to one of my favorite Furs songs, "Torch", off the 1989 album Book of Days.

I love the site. What can I do to help?

Plenty! First and foremost, you can contribute to any section of the site. I can always use more photos for the gallery, setlists, photos, and ticket stub scans for the live archive, and just about anything else you can think of that would make BDD richer. Just contact me and let me know what you'd like to add. Please bear in mind that I am exceptionally busy a lot of the time, and it might take me a while to add your contribution to the site.

If you'd like to make a financial contribution to help pay for BDD's hosting expenses, you can make a donation of any amount over $0.50 directly to our host:
